MVP was backstage getting ready for his match when Sherri Shepherd walked in. She asked what he was doing Monday morning and asked him to be on The View. MVP told her to be serious but Sherri was getting hyper. He said he’d see her on The View as U.S. Champion. She said that was straight-up “Ballin!”
DOLPH ZIGGLER vs. MVP- UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
MVP and Sherri came out arm-in-arm. High hip-toss by MVP, then a few deep arm-drags. Ziggler begged off, but ended up throwing MVP through the middle rope and to the outside. Sherri checked on him but Dolph threw some right hands. Ziggler offered his right hand to Sherri to shake, but she wasn’t having it. Dolph ducked an MVP attempt from behind and he and Sherri almost ran into each other. Ziggler applied a reverse chin-lock back in the ring. MVP fired back with an overhead throw. Before he could capitalize, Ziggler went low with a dropkick to the knee. Grisham said Ziggler won more matches than anyone in Kent State University history. Sherri got on the apron and Dolph asked for a kiss. She slapped him and MVP started his comeback. Montel swatted away a dropkick, and hit the Playmaker to retain.
WINNER: MVP

Backstage, MVP was in his locker room. New Smackdown superstar Dolph Ziggler walked in to introduce himself, but Teddy Long barged in, totally ignoring Ziggler. Long talked to MVP, saying he wishes he could keep him on Smackdown. Long said he has a friend Sherri who has a talk show and she’d like to talk to MVP. Turns out, it’s Sherri Shepherd from The View. Long said for now, MVP should focus on his match up next though.
MVP vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER
Ziggler faked an introduction before the match and pie-faced MVP instead. Ziggler wisely left the ring instead of running into a big boot. Dolph worked the left arm, then landed an elbowdrop for two. More work on the arm from the very intense Ziggler. MVP fought out with some elbows and a clothesline. Overhead throw by MVP. “Ballin’!” elbowdrop for two. Ziggler took out MVP’s knee on a charge attempt, then sent him head-first into the middle buckle. Backstage, Eve Torres interviewed MVP about his re-match with Shelton Benjamin tonight. MVP said tonight is the first step in a three step process: Beat Shelton Benjamin to retain the US Title, then win the Money-in-the-Bank ladder match at Wrestlemania and then cash it in to win the Title. Benjamin interrupted and said MVP isn’t just facing the Gold Standard, but a man with a chip on his shoulder. Benjamin said MVP’s step-by-step program won’t mean anything when he’s beating MVP to a pulp and taking back his US Title. MVP called Shelton one of the most amazing athletes he’s ever faced but while he may be one of the best on the planet, he’s not better than MVP.
SHELTON BENJAMIN vs. MVP – UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH

MVP was tossed out of the ring, then into the steel steps at ringside. Benjamin continued the assault on MVP in the ring, focusing on his back. T-Bone suplex by Shelton, netting him a two-count. Tazz reminisced about the days when he could throw a suplex like that. MVP fought out of a chin-lock and hit an electric chair. But Shelton countered with a jaw-breaker. He missed a splash in the corner though and ran into an overhead throw by the champ. MVP ramped up the offense and tried to get the crowd more into the match. He hit the “Ballin’!” elbowdrop for two. Spinning heel kick by Benjamin got him a two-count. Shelton, to the top, hit a Blockbuster for two. Crowd started getting more behind MVP at this juncture. Big boot by MVP out of the corner, followed by the Playmaker for three.
