Backstage, MVP was on the phone with someone complaining about not being on the card tonight. He said he's not even sure if Vickie Guerrero is here tonight. MVP told the person he would take care of it. He then banged on Vickie's office door, but Big Show answered the door. MVP demanded a word with Vickie, but Big Show wasn't having any of it. MVP said his career has been suffering on Smackdown lately, so he needs something done. Big Show said he's focused on Undertaker, but if MVP bothers him again, he's going to focus on him. Vickie was heard calling for Show, and Show walked back inside. MVP stormed off in a huff ready to do something about this.

Cole and Lawler were talking up Cyber Sunday later this month when MVP's music interrupted. MVP demanded undivided attention from the audience to make a statement. He said that if you're the Cleveland Cavaliers, you don't bench LeBron James. And if you're the Dodgers, you don't bench Manny Ramirez. And if you're Smackdown, you don't have a PPV without MVP. Suddenly, Randy Orton's music interrupted and Orton slowly walked to the ring to confront MVP.

Orton said they haven't officially met. Orton asked MVP why this happens every week where he's off the card. MVP said it's obvious when Vickie is an incompetent GM. Orton said every time MVP is given the ball, he drops it. MVP said he's not on Raw and he doesn't work for Mike Adamle, so there are no repurcessions for him knocking Orton right now. He said everyone in the Raw locker room would love him for doing that, too.

After MVP and Orton had a face-to-face discussion, the Priceless theme music interrupted and out walked Cody, Teddy, and Manu. Cody talked first about this being part of Orton's MO to agitate people without any substance. Cody said Orton is just the guy who hangs out at high school coasting on reputation because that's all he has. Manu stepped in and said Orton only picks up the scraps. Orton said that when he sees them accomplish just half of what he has, then he might take them seriously. Orton walked off, then MVP sarcastically said there goes Orton, who we might see in the ring sometime in the year 2012.

MVP then talked up Priceless, but Cody Rhodes said he doesn't want to hear about that when MVP isn't even in their class. He told MVP to get out of the ring and they'll catch him at the next PPV he was shut out of. MVP slowly backed away, then he left the ring. He vowed to remember this conversation. As MVP walked up the entrance ramp, C.M. Punk's music hit and out walked Punk and Kofi Kingston. MVP was set to leave, but Punk tried to convince MVP into joining them for a six-man tag against Priceless.

MVP then took off his dress shirt and all three stormed the ring for a fight. Ooops. Punk and Kofi bailed on MVP, who stormed the ring by himself to take a beating from Priceless. After Punk and Kofi shared a laugh, they stormed the ring and took out Priceless by themselves. Punk and Kofi slapped hands, then left the ring.

JEFF HARDY & REY MYSTERIO & FINLAY & BATISTA vs. MVP & JBL & THE BRIAN KENDRICK & KANE
Finlay and Kendrick started the match for their respective teams. Finlay used his smashmouth style to ground Kendrick, then tagged Batista. Back in was Finlay, who held the advantage over Kendrick on the outside of the ring. Hornswoggle even got into it, throwing himself onto MVP as the show went to break.

Back from a break, and Kendrick got his first offense against Finlay, then did his little dance, and unbeknownst to him, Hornswoggle was mocking him with a dance of his own while wearing Kendrick's jacket. Kendrick finally saw it and chased Hornswoggle as Finlay chased Kendrick. Ezekiel played a part in stopping Finlay. JBL and Finlay both found themselves on the mat, but both were able to make tags to MVP and Batista. Batista tossed MVP and Kendrick around, then hit a spinebuster on Kane. Batista powerslammed MVP then Rey got on Batista's shoulders and splashed MVP. Kane tripped up Mysterio on a 619 attempt and pulled him out of the ring as the show went to break again.

It was Kane and Mysterio in the ring out of break. They didn't stay in the ring together very long, which was smart, as Kane tagged Kendrick in. JBL walked right in front of Batista, who was on the apron, and did his fall-away slam on Rey, looking at Batista all the way. Batista broke up the three-count though. Hardy and MVP made simultaneous tags, and the crowd went wild. Things started breaking down after Hardy hit Whisper in the Wind. Mysterio hit a 619 on MVP then jumped on Kane, who was on the outside. Jeff hit his Swanton on MVP to pick up the win.

WINNERS: Hardy, Finlay, Batista & Mysterio

• MyNetworkTV gets into the ring with the WWE
Posted by: Samantha October 03, 2008 Discuss?
When MyNetworkTV launched in fall 2006, its programming consisted of two telenovela-inspired English-language soap operas, each of which ran five nights a week. That experiment failed pretty quickly — even though telenovelas are popular in several countries, U.S. viewers were already pulled in too many directions to make the kind of commitment those shows required. (It didn’t help that neither show was all that good.)

MyNetwork, which airs locally on KDFI/Channel 27, has spent the time since then trying to find its voice. Tonight, it makes a big step in that direction, with a soap opera of a different sort: WWE Friday Night SmackDown! MyNetwork acquired rights to air the two-hour wrestling show, which has spent nearly a decade as one of the top ratings performers on the CW and its predecessor, UPN. It’s especially popular among young men, who will find a different channel to watch SmackDown! on beginning tonight.

Montel Vontavious Porter, a SmackDown! wrestler better known as MVP, came to Dallas recently to promote the move. According to his Internet Movie Database biography, MVP also goes by Antonio Banks, and he spent nine years in prison on armed robbery and kidnapping charges before wrestling led him on a straighter path. MVP grappled with some questions about the MyNetwork transition, wrestling and his past during a 15-minute interview.
